Additional Information

High-Visibility Safety Apparel (HVSA)

High-visibility safety apparel is clothing (e.g., vests, shirts, pants, bibs, coveralls, or hats.) that can be worn by workers to improve visibility so that people can see them in low light conditions. High-visibility safety clothing protects against workplace accidents & injuries by making the worker visible to each other and anyone else who may be in the same area.

High Visibility Clothing is particularly important for workers in the gas & electrical utility industry, and in the transportation industry, such as railways, highways, & airport workers. Construction workers, first responders, surveyors, sanitation & warehouse workers also benefit from the increased visibility of these clothing types.

Reflective Tape on safety clothing is to increase the wearer’s visibility to others, especially in the dark. The tape brightly reflects other people’s lights and warns them of your presence. Reflective Tape is applied on reflective workwear such as Shirts, Pants & Shorts & Safety Vest.

High visibility Workwear is a type of personal protective equipment that is designed to keep you safe at your workplace, visibility enhanced apparel is not only important from a safety standpoint, but it is also bright in color and reflective, so they stand out from other people on the road as well as protect you by helping drivers see where you are when visibility gets low because of fog or dark conditions like night-time.

When do You Need High Visibility Clothing?

Jackets are ideal for Work conditions such as indoor or outdoor work, temperature, work rates, traffic flow, traffic volume, visibility, etc.

Especially for the workplace environment where the background workers must be seen in (e.g., is the visual area behind the workers simple, complex, urban, rural, highway, filled with equipment, cluttered).

Safety Vests are helpful when a worker is exposed to various traffic hazards, including traffic speeds.

Coveralls & Bibs are the best solutions If certain jobs or the function is done, need to be "visually" identifiable from other workers in the area.

American National Standard for High Visibility Safety Apparel

The ANSI/ISEA 107 American National Standard for High Visibility Safety Apparel and Accessories is a voluntary standard with guidelines that provide practical instruction regarding both reflective material and garment design to enhance worker visibility. ANSI/ISEA 107 presents three performance classes of garments and identifies garment types based on expected use settings and work activities being performed. These are designated as off-road (type O), roadway and temporary traffic control (type R), or public safety activities (type P).

The main purpose for wearing high-visibility work Clothes is the safety it offers their wearers. It is proven to prevent accidents and fatalities in potentially dangerous environments, in this case, you must be aware of which ANSI Class high visibility clothes are suitable for your work environment.

ANSI Type O, Class 1 - Performance Class 1 offers the minimum amount of high visibility materials to differentiate the wearer from non-complex work environments and is only appropriate for off-road environments.

ANSI Type R or P, Class 2 - Performance Class 2 is considered the minimum level of protection for workers exposed to roadway rights-of-way and temporary traffic control (TTC) zones. Garments will have additional amounts of high visibility materials that allow for a better definition of the human form.

ANSI Type R or P, Class 3 - Performance Class 3 provides more visibility to the wearer in both complex backgrounds and through a full range of movement by the required placement of background, retroreflective, and combined performance materials on the sleeves and pant legs (if present). Garments have an even greater minimum level of high visibility material the apparel must contain. A garment or vest without sleeves worn alone is NOT considered Class 3 protection.

ANSI Class E - High visibility Wear that does not qualify as meeting the requirements of the standard when worn alone, but when a Class E item is worn with a Class 2 or Class 3 garment, the overall classification of the ensemble is Class 3.
