Header Wrap
and Exhaust Wrap

Insultherm™ header wrap is made from vermiculite coated fiberglass which is able to withstand temperatures up to 1200° F. It is manufactured from fiberglass yarns which are woven into a strong and flexible wrap with vermiculite coating.

Using a header wrap can help produce more horsepower and reduce underhood temperatures. It also helps hotter exhaust gases to go out of the system faster through decreased density which improves air circulation.

When it comes to exhaust wrap, it's important to remember the proper way of wrapping a header, which is to overlap the wrap by only ¼ inch. Too much overlapping will over-insulate the tubes, causing a hot spot. So overlapping just 1/4" is perfect as this allows just enough heat out to ensure performance without damaging your exhaust. By doing this, the heat will be distributed across the header surface which reduces burnout problems in areas such as the exterior of a bend.
